The Class-Three Corvette was a military starship designed by the Marso-Deka Corporation in 2155. They were outlawed in 2191 by the Civil Triumvirate long after the design went out of production. A versatile ship, the MDC-CR3 was used extensively by the Civil Triumvirate for many years. This third generation of the corvette featured a modular interior design that allowed for easy reconfiguration from one function to another. Common configurations included a troop carrier, light escort vessel, cargo transport, or passenger liner.

Standard Armaments[]

The standard weaponry of the MDC-CR3 included four guided P.C.B. turrets, which were mounted on the dorsal and ventral sides to provide a full fire arc. In addition, a forward-mounted defensive laser was used to help clear away obstructions during travel. This weapon was typically not powerful enough to be used in warfare, but it would often be upgraded to provide more power when necessary.

Defensively, the Class-Three Corvette was constructed of a gilite-enforced titanium hull, which was a standard skin for vessels of like size and design. Its class-two particle shielding provided defense against both starfighter weaponry and the heavier armaments used by capital-scale warships.

While the vessel did not come standard with any launch tubes, there were two install points on the port and starboard hull, which provided an easy way to install torpedo launchers of varying type. Of course, upgrades such as these put a strain on the vessel's internal space, due to the extra mechanics and storage space required to operate them effectively.

Two tow cables came standard with the vessel, but these would sometimes be removed to provide more space for upgraded weaponry.

Stock Design[]

Sizeable enough, the Class-Three Corvette was broken into three distinct decks, which were accessed by way of a pair of mag-lift shafts that terminated at the bridge. The upper deck (Deck One) was smaller than the others, and was reserved for crew quarters, access to the dorsal turrets, and emergency reserve storage rooms. Decks Two and Three were extremely modular, and most of its space would be retrofit for the purposes required of each vessel. The bridge was situationed on Deck Two, with an operations center just aft that was connected to the mag-lift. Primary access to the corvette was by way of a hydraulic boarding ramp just beneath and behind the bridge, on Deck Three. This provided access to a large room that was usually reserved for cargo storage. It's stock design provided a maximum payload of 2,000 kilograms (2 metric tons), but this could often be increased by sacrificing other functions or crew space.

Speed and Maneuverability[]

For localized travel and combat situations, the vessel's stock design provided two ion thrusters, which made her a relatively fast ship. Twenty maneuvering thrusters were spread across the hull, making her almost as maneuverable as a starfighter.

For inter-planetary travel, the vessel utilized triple magna-thrusters with a flux level of 35g each. This was a substantial amount of power given her size, making her acceleration and deceleration levels rather high.
