Hangars, also called hangar bays or docking bays, where areas designed for launching, landing, repairing and refueling vehicles. They were found on the surfaces of many planets, and many spacecraft and space stations incorporated their own hangar bays for the use of smaller craft, such as starfighters, shuttlecraft and dropships. Even larger spacecraft were able to accomodate small capital ships, such as corvettes, gunships and small frigates.
Some hangars opened into the vacuum of space. These openings were sealed by a magnetic force field and had emergency vac-doors in case the shield failed. Engineers and mechanics were often found working on vehicles littering these hangers.
