A shuttle was a small spacecraft used to transport personnel, usually at least partially through space.
Characteristics[]
Some shuttles were designed only to carry people from a planet's orbit to its surface, or from one larger ship to another located nearby. Only in certain circumstances would a shuttle be outfit with magna-thrust and jump node technologies if necessary. Military shuttles used for the collection or delivery of troops were among the most common, as were diplomatic shuttles.
The term dropship referred to a shuttle, usually military, but limited to local travel only. They were usually used to send troops from a berthing vessel to a planet during an operation, or for boarding operations against other spacecraft.
